Pastors Randy and Mable Adams served in leadership roles, at Greater Restoration Revival Church under the leadership of Bishop Frederick Adams, for many years prior to stepping out into Pastorship; serving as an assistant pastor helped to establish a sure foundation for ministry. With no building or members initially, Pastors Randy and Mable stepped out into the unknown and into the calling of Christ. On July 6, 2008, The City held its first service, and by the end of this service, the membership total was at 26. Within two months, the membership total had increased to over 60 people. The City held worship services at various locations in the city of Greenwood, including the Team Technology and Senior Citizens' buildings and immediately began giving back to the community, the first being the Back-to-School Giveaway, within the first month. We were so blessed, excited, and ready for our new quest.

After almost two years later, in March 2010, the church had its very own building. The members worked as a church family to remodel and furnish the entire building . The Lord has been so very faithful to The City; He has made provisions over and over again. City of Refuge Ministries' members have experienced an increase in many areas of life, including membership increase; He has graciously added to this ministry. The City has been able to host many community projects to give back locally. God has graced The City with not only Pastorship in our founders, but He added leadership through our  Assistant Pastors Joseph and Connie Turner and Elder Jerome and Faye Harris, who are willing and able servants in the ministry. We are blessed to have such an awesome group of people serving in ministry at The City. 

Our Sunday services are reserved for intimate time with God, as we engage in corporate worship and fellowship. There is not a dress code; you will find everything from jeans to casual wear to skirts and suits. Come in what is comfortable for you, because it's not about what you look like or wear in His presence. He transforms us from the inside out. At The City, children are a top priority. We offer Children's Church to our youth on 2nd and 3rd Sundays. We look forward to fostering a healthy and safe environment for your children to grow.
